Obama's Extraordinary Wave Fails to Sink Extraordinary Foe

After storming five presidential-nominating contests over the weekend, Sen. Barack Obama is favored to take three more primaries today and two later this month -- a potential 10-contest run that will give him wins in nearly half the states compared with Sen. Hillary Clinton's total of just 10 wins since voting began in Iowa.

In another year, against another candidate, Illinois's Sen. Obama might be on the verge of nabbing the Democratic nomination. A few Democratic strategists, and some Republicans, think he is almost there now. But Sen. Clinton is no average candidate, and party rules give the New York senator enough convention delegates to weather February's squalls until contests in March.

The campaign's calculation about the March 4 races in big states Texas and Ohio has elevated them to must-win status for Sen.

REMICADE(R) Becomes First Anti-TNF Biologic Therapy to Treat One ...

HORSHAM, Pa. and KENILWORTH, N.J., Nov. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Centocor, Inc., Schering-Plough Corporation, and Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma Corporation announced today that an estimated one million patients have now been treated with REMICADE(R) (infliximab), the leading anti-tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha therapy worldwide. In fact, REMICADE has been used to treat more patients worldwide than all other anti-TNF-alpha agents combined. REMICADE was the first anti-TNF-alpha treatment approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), when it was indicated for the treatment of acute moderate to severe Crohn's disease in 1998. The indication for Crohn's disease was quickly followed by additional indications, such as rheumatoid arthritis.

"Rheumatoid arthritis derailed my life," said Ellen Shmueli, RA patient.

NHF: 'Work or lose home' scheme would be unfair and impossible to ...

The National Housing Federation, which represents England's housing associations, says that a 'work or lose your home' policy for social housing tenants would be unfair and impossible to enforce. Chief executive of the National Housing Federation David Orr said: "Efforts to help social housing tenants into work are very welcome. But threatening tenants with the loss of their home is absolutely the wrong way to go about it. "Such a policy would be unfair and impossible to enforce. Many of the jobs open to people, especially at the lower skills end, are insecure or temporary. Also, people with health problems, such as mental health issues may find there are periods when they cannot keep up their job. "Instead of taking a punitive approach, the Government should build upon the successful employment schemes already being run by housing associations around the country.

Two charged in killing of Red WIng man

Two 19-year-old men have been charged with shooting a Red Wing man to death, according to criminal complaints filed Tuesday in Goodhue County District Court.

The documents accuse William Jamar Lawton and Martin Todd Griffith of killing Joel Rafael Diaz Albelo, 27, early Sunday in an alley behind a bar on the 300 block of W. 7th Street in Red Wing.

Albelo was shot in the chest around 12:30 a.m. while sitting in a vehicle with three other people.

Griffith faces charges of second-degree murder, first-degree assault, first-degree attempted aggravated robbery and second-degree assault. Lawton faces the same charges as an accomplice to the crime, complaints said.

Police said they believe Albelo and his group had arranged to meet Griffith, Lawton and the 16-year-old to buy drugs, and the others were intent on robbing them.
